ECO4 Scheme FAQs:

What is the ECO4 grant?

The ECO4 grant is a government-backed scheme that’s designed to fund the energy efficiency improvement of homes all over the UK.

Households that receive existing financial support from the government are eligible for the ECO4 grant, which will provide a variety of options to improve the heat efficiency of their home.

How long can the process take?

The timeline for receiving support via the ECO4 scheme varies depending on a few factors. Generally, it can take several weeks, or even months, after your submission before you receive a review.

Once your application has been approved, a free survey of your home will be arranged. This should only take around 15 minutes.

Then, when everything has been arranged, the work on your home can be completed. This should take no longer than three days from start to finish.

Can I get my boiler replaced by the ECO4 grant?

Yes, it is possible to have your boiler replaced by ECO4 funding. If you have a broken boiler and would like that to be replaced, your current boiler must have been deemed uneconomical to repair.

How do I find out if I have an EPC and what the rating is?

An energy performance certificate (EPC) shows how energy efficient your home is on a scale from A to G (most to least efficient).

You can check if your property has an EPC by visiting the government's website. Enter your address and discover your rating. If you do not have a registered EPC, you must find an accredited assessor.

Do I need to accept all the work that's recommended?

No. The installer will recommend any energy efficiency measures for your property based on their technical survey and a calculation of possible energy savings.

You do have the right to refuse any work that you don't want or need, so long as you meet the minimum requirements of the ECO4 scheme.

How much money can I get from the ECO4 scheme?

Individual applicants can receive between £7,000 and £20,000 worth of ECO4 grant funding. The amount you receive is based on factors such as property type, existing energy efficiency measures, and income.

In total, the ECO4 scheme has £4 billion of funding available. For eligible homeowners, it’s designed to cover 100% of the cost of improving inefficient homes. If you’d like to chat with us in more detail about the ECO4 grant, don’t hesitate to contact us. We’ll be happy to help.
